Yoshi's Island Naval Piranha
Burt the Bashful's appearance in Yoshi's Woolly World. Burt the Bashful, also spelled Bert the Bashful,[1] is the first mid-boss seen in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island; he is found in Burt The Bashful's Fort half-way through World 1. At the end of the fort, Yellow Yoshi encounters a normal Burt, which Kamek grows to a massive size, turning it into Burt the Bashful. To defeat him, Yoshi must hit him with eggs six times; with each hit, Burt's pants continue to fall off. When he is defeated, his pants entirely fall off and he turns red, blasts off and eventually implodes. While Burt does not appear in Yoshi's Island DS, the mid-bosses of World 1, the Big Burt Bros., are based on him. He also cameos in the beginning, alongside Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island's castle bosses and Tap-Tap the Red Nose. Burt the Bashful later appears in Yoshi's Woolly World and Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World as the boss of World 1 in Burt the Bashful's Castle. Here, Burt has three phases. First, he jumps as in Yoshi's Island. He occasionally summons two Shy Guys as ammo. To damage Burt, Yoshi must first hit him with a yarn ball to stun him, then unravel his pants at the string. For the second phase, he gets two ball look-alikes, which jump around. During his final phase, he gets a third and fourth ball and summons three Shy Guys. Once Burt is entirely naked, the battle ends. In this game, not including Baby Bowser's second form, Burt the Bashful is the only boss that doesn't need to be Ground Pounded to be defeated. While Burt does not appear in Yoshi's Crafted World, the player fights a similar boss called Burt the Ball, which is a rubber version of him. Burt the Bashful also appears as a sticker in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and as a spirit in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Burt the Bashful's appearance in the Super Mario-Kun. In volume 14 of the Super Mario-Kun, the volume based on Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, Burt the Bashful is the first boss Mario, Luigi, and Yoshi encounter. He bounces around, smashing Mario in the process. Yoshi also attacks and ends up failing. An Egg-Plant assists them, but the Yoshi Eggs simply bounce off Burt. Finally, Mario, Luigi, and Yoshi grab and pull down Burt's pants, revealing his genitals. Ashamed, he shrinks and starts flying off as a deflated balloon, causing havoc to Mario and Luigi. Lava Piranha is an enormous Piranha Plant boss in Paper Mario who, as its name suggests, dwells in a pool of lava. Lava Piranha bears some resemblance to the boss Naval Piranha from Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, except smaller and with fewer buds and tendrils. Lava Piranha has a large tongue and white ring markings instead of filled white spots on its head, like typical Piranha Plants. Goombario and Koopa Koot refer to Lava Piranha in plural terms, suggesting there is more than one Lava Piranha in existence. Given its Japanese name, this is likely referring to Fire Piranha Plants.[1] History[edit]The Lava Piranha featured in Paper Mario is the ruler of Mt. Lavalava on Lavalava Island. It is found in a small lava pool where the other Piranha Plants report to him. Lava Piranha speaks in shouts and shrieks, blathering out insults at Mario when it confronts him for the fifth Star Spirit, Misstar, whom Bowser ordered the fiery Piranha Plant to guard. Its attacks are rather simple. Most of its attacking is done via Lava Buds, which can spit out Petit Piranhas. When it attacks, it spits out an orb of fire at Mario that does five attack damage to Mario. After Mario initially defeats Lava Piranha, it suddenly emerges from the lava and gets forty more HP. This time, Lava Piranha's head is on fire and its tongue is sticking out. If Sushie is Ultra-rank, her Tidal Wave ability stuns Lava Piranha for two full turns. After the second round, it slowly falls to the ground and then sinks back into the lava, relinquishing the Star Spirit. It has a cameo appearance in the credits of Paper Mario, poking its head out from behind Lavalava Island, alternating with Raphael Raven. In Super Mario-Kun, the Lava Piranha is encountered after Sushie destroys a Spiny Tromp. Mario and his partners attempt to attack it by using a Snowman Doll, but it results in Kooper getting crushed. The Lava Piranha then spews Lava Buds that attack Mario and his partners. Sushie then encases Mario in Water Block and squirts Lava Piranha. Mario walks out of the water block and shouts, distracting Sushie. Lava Piranha then burns and injures Sushie. Despite this, Sushie inflates Mario with water and pushes him to Lava Piranha. Mario bursts, spraying the water over Lava Piranha and thus defeating it. Profiles and statistics[edit]
